Covering Plaster Walls with Paneling

I'm thinking of covering 88 year old plaster (that's cracked very badly) with some type of 1/4" paneling. I would like to know if this can be done and if so, how to attach it to the plaster, nails or some type of adhesive????

Re: Covering Plaster Walls with Paneling

Yes, you can cover your bad plaster walls with paneling. They actually make small nails to match the color of your paneling and they are designed for paneling. You should also glue it onto the plaster walls as well as nailing it. Make sure that the nails are long enought to penetrate the paneling, plaster and into the studs. You should located your studs with a stud finder and mark the studs on the ceiling and floor so you can nail into the studs after placing the paneling on the wall.

There is a great video under How to's and repairs on plaster walls... looks really easy to repair and may give you some idea on how to attach the paneling if that is what you decide!
