I recently exposed an chimney that had been encased in plaster, and inside a wall that was removed during a renovation (took out wall between kitchen and dining room, put up beam).
There is what looks like a 10.5" painted galvanized chimney plug (image below).
We are looking for ideas on what to cover this with, and if we can replace it with something more recessed. The chimney has the exhaust from the oil furnace and gas water heater going through it (both in the basement below).
Any help is very much appreciated! This is one of those finish details that we are just getting to 6 months later...
