cover enamel paint

does anyone have any ideas on covering enamel painted doors and trim with latex paint.kliz's didn't do anything but waste money .sanding to scrub it up neither.thanks

Re: cover enamel paint

Hi, for old oil enamel you need to sand with 120 grit, into every crevice if possible, then prime with oil primer. After the primer is fully dry, you can repaint with anything. For trim, nothing is better than Moore's "Advance" enamel paints. they have as hard and durable finish as oil (and I'm an old-time oil enamel user) without the smell and delicate application.
