copper roof/gutters ice dam

Hi. am being told that using corrosion inhibited magnesium chloride is safe for copper (roof and gutters) when dealing with ice dam. am told this is safe for copper whereas calcium chloride is bad. Agree? Both are bad? both safe? None of the above? No plants below to worry about in this case, just concerned about the copper

thanks

If you intend to use some sort of salt all winter long for several months or for many years in the future. Recommend installing a DE-icing cable system and stop using salt altogether.
