convert a push button switch to a pull switch

My parents live in a security bldg where they must push a button the allow guest to enter the building. I would like to turn the push button to a pull with a cord to make it easier to get to. do you have any ideas. Would a pull light switch work?

I's probably a " momentary " switch . Meaning that the contacts are spring loaded and are only closed as long as you hold the button down . Any switch you use will need to meet that criteria .

How about making a button pusher?

How about replacing the push button momentary switch with a simple/normal toggle switch (light switch)? Flip it up for the required amount of time and then just flip it down.

Or.....replace the push button momentary with a spring-loaded momentary toggle switch. Pressure is then on the side of the finger instead of the end of the finger. Don't know if that really helps... but maybe.
