Congratulations to our Canadian Friends

Congratulations to our Canadian and Boston friends for a hard-fought, exciting NHL championship series.

Our Canadian friends have contributed so much over the years to these boards and will always be champions!

Pelton -- thanks for the kind words.

Congratulations to the phenomenal Boston Bruins --- one of the original six

Unfortunately there's embarrassment to many of us for those fools that created a nasty riot in Vancouver. :o

I've always wondered why some stupid people celebrate a championship or lost championship by burning cars or tires, loot stores and destruct public and private property.

its just plain stupid, havent heard what the actual cost for insurance claims is going to be though as of yet.

could have happened in either city though. i know in 2004 in boston they had a riot after the bosox won....

I think all Canadians, and all sports fans, will recognize that the hooliganism, looting and rioting in Vancouver that followed the 7th and deciding game has no place in sport.

The VAST MAJORITY of hockey fans in Vancouver are responsible people and were glad that the Vancouver Canucks went as far as they did in the playoffs. But, as happens so often, it was the few that ruined it for the many. Some of those in the crowd were intending to create a riot regardless of the outcome of the game, and there were enough irresponsible bystanders hanging around that chose to help them do that.

This kind of thing reflects poorly on the game, on the team, on the city and even on the country.

As a Canadian, I can assure the Americans in here that MOST Canadians are capable of expressing their emotions without smashing a store window or setting fire to a parked car. All of us congratulate Boston on their win. There is no shame in losing cuz it took a strong team to go as far as the Canucks did in the playoffs.

The same can be said of both sides of the border, it's just that the hooligans screw it up for all of us. We've had riots at our state fair, prompting the shutdown of the day/festivities that were catering to the very people who decided to riot. They only hurt themselves.
