And my answer would still be the same- no, compression fittings make a poor substitute for a solid connection, particularly when that connection cannot be accessed at will should the need arise.

It depends on the application . I just didn't agree with a rubber stamp condemnation .

It's not a condemnation of all applications or types of compression fittings just the type used by homeowners for water lines. I'm sure you wouldn't use one of those for high pressure gas lines or pressurized hydraulic lines. If you do I wouldn't want to work around there.

My apology, I shouldn't have been so general in my answer but I stand by my opinion of those compression fittings.

By the way around here the compression fittings used on gas lines and hydraulic lines are also flared and in the case of hydraulic lines are double flared.
