I have a dishwsher that has a film in it I have a watersoftener so it not from the hard water I heard that you can use kool-aid the sugar free stuff but not sure if the still works or not and if so what kind thank you for your time Dave
If Tang works you might use just plain ascorbit acid if you can buy it in a jar (no dyes).
or just use 2 or 3 cups of vinegar in the wash cycle with your regular detergent. No dishes at that time, and you might have to do that a couple times.
When I went to the appliance parts house to inquire about something to clean my dishwasher , the guy held up a package of CITRIC ACID . He said , " I could sell you this , or you could buy a jar of TANG . The TANG is cheaper and you can mix up the leftovers for your kids . " :D

I kid you not , an appliance repairman told me to use TANG powder mix in my dishwasher . It worked .
