Clean old ceramic tile floor

I live in an old building with a beautiful floor of small ceramic tile, white, with a burgundy meandering border.

It has not been well maintained however, so I am looking for a way to scrub it clean using an equipment that I can handle myself, i.e. not very heavy.

I have not been able to find any rental equipment that would do the job. Moreover, existing machines seem to be inadequate to scrub steps, and especially corners and edges: usually the scrubbing pads do not extend outwards and don't reach the side wall.

Short of calling in a professional, which would cost way too much, are there any other options I might turn to?

I have scrubbed a small section by hand and put Rejuvenate on top and the difference is striking!
