The saw he was using looked black. I've seen the PC trim saws around, but they look gray.

porter cable use to make their saw both in grey as well as black. if it had hints of green in it and a fully enclosed blade guard it would be the festool plunge saw that runs on a track

Just my 2 cents:

The name on the tool will never be as important as the hand on the tool.

true.. but if you want a saw thats gonna help cut straighter spend more than $80.. ive used several very cheap saws and their terrible.. we didnt buy them for building, we would buy $50 saws for nothing more than cutting roofs off when doing 2nd and 3rd story additions on homes. easier on the wallet to burn up a $50 saw than it is to pay $75 to get the motor to a $200 saw rebuilt.

my saw of preference is the 1st generation milwaukee tilt-lok which is 10 x better than the current version they make. also the most recent makita's or a bosch worm drive

I have three saws, one Dewalt 18v. for light duty stuff and two Skil 77. It used to just be one Skil, but when I started having to cut a lot of stucco and concrete with a diamond blade, the saw was getting beat up pretty good so I thought having a second for wood only was a good idea. I have never ever had a problem with any of my saws as long as they've got a good blade in them.

I have two: makita, worm drive and a compact procter & gamble, I mean porter cable. Both have their blades on the left (when you hold them in cutting position).

They've been around a long time, at least 20 years.
