ceiling repairs
neverending

Goodmorning.... Last winter I had leaks around a skylight to the point where some of the texture and joint tape/compound got wet enough to separate from the paper face of the drywall board. I fixed the leaks and over the months the ceiling has dried out. Now I would like to repair the finish........ when I scrape/flake off the bubbled areas (biggest is appx. 1'X 3')the paper of the wallboard seems to be ok. Can I put new tape and joint compound where needed and texture as required to complete the repair? Or do I need to cut out any wall board that had been wet? The ceiling does not look like it is moldy.

havanagranite

as long as it is totally dried out and there is no evidence of mildew finish as normal
