Ceiling Crack
asam33

A few months ago I completely remodeled a bedroom, which including repairing some drywall blemishes like loose tape and screwing in popped screws. I just noticed a 2 ft long crooked crack on the ceiling and have never seen a crack like that before. Above this room is another bedroom. I've seen straight cracks along tape but never a crooked crack like this. What could this be caused by?

I cant figure out how to upload picture, its a jpeg file and wont let me attach. directionally the crack runs side to side (not front of house to back of house).

This crack is probably due to movements. Cracks like these usually appear where two sheets of drywall meet.

Cut around the crack, fill with compound, place a mesh tape and finish with more compound.

There is an easier way to upload a photo: upload it in a host like photobucket, then let us have the link.

I'm a fan of the mesh tape over the paper tape.

Several thin layers of hot mud are better than fewer thick layers which get sanded down.
