Can I fix this stain color?

I decided to make cabinets to go in the alcoves next to my fireplace. The building went okay, but the stain turned out orange rather than a honey-brown color. How can I fix it? Restain? Do I have to paint it?
I used minwax gelstain. I've only put the stain on 1 cabinet, if I restain, must I first use the stain that I used on the first cabinet & then restain so that both cabinets match?
I was hoping that the wood color next to the firplace would make the "orangeness" of the fireplace pop, but it seems like it makes the fireplace look dull. Any suggestions?

Buy some better stain that is full bodied and you should be able to resurrect it.

Benjamin Moore makes one,and there is a few others but go to a paint store that carries professional stains that are full bodied and can be used for tinting.

I haven't found that the GEL stains do anything for me but dry up in the can between jobs. I suspect that was the reason behind them.
