Calling all Experts: Swing Design!

Hi,
We are students from 6C and have been asked to design minitature swings.

We have designed our own swings, consulted with our peers and now we wish to consult some experts!

Here are our questions:
1. Are nails better to join wood together than glue?
2. What is the best way to make a swing stand up?
3. Is string okay to make the swing, swing?
4. What is better to hold the whole swing together – chop sticks or paddle pop sticks?

Please feel free to answer one or all the questions we came up with!

Thanks,

From 6C

A good Glue is much better, you are actually bonding the two pieces together.
2. What is the best way to make a swing stand up?
Splayed legs on each side of the swing, the wider the angle the more stable tha swing.
3. Is string okay to make the swing, swing?
You don't say how big a swing you are making, if it's small enough string will work, fishing line or small chain would be stronger.
4. What is better to hold the whole swing together – chop sticks or paddle pop sticks?
That will depend on the design and size.

Just my opinion,
