buying hydronic fin tubes
waltdeckhouse

I need to install a new section of baseboard heaters in our basement. The current hydronic setup uses 3/4" copper tubes with aluminum fins. I would like to buy the tubes without a shroud...as I want to make a custom shroud. This house was built in 1972 and I guess routing heaters like this was common then?? Today I found it hard to locate a source for these tubes. The local plumbing supplier gave me a strange look when I asked about it. He directed me to a HVAC supplier and then warned me they do not sell to the general public. So I am not sure where to turn. I tried Craig's list and had no luck. It looks like I can buy an assembly with shrouds but I think there must be a cheaper way to go about this. http://www.aimradiantheating.com/store/FinTubeBaseboard_3_4_ElementAssembledSinglePackAssembled.html

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
