Brick Fireplace Trim

I recently took off the wood panelling in my living room. THAT left a gap between the back og the firplace and the sheetrock. How do I cover up that 45 degree angle where the firelplace meets the sheetrock. Since I can see into the attic..I need to seal it . What rdo I seal it with? The maybe put on small trim?

Re: Brick Fireplace Trim

If the gap is too large to caulk, gray foam backer rods are similar in color to mortar. I've stuffed gaps by fireplaces with gray foam rods, them used a clear silicone sealant over that.

I've also scribed wood trim to fit stone or brick to close the gaps (that is a whole 'nother deal, but fun to see):
