Beware of VintageDoors.com

Vintage Doors (Hammond, NY) seems to be manipulating their web reviews. After a terrible experience with them, I was reading other web reviews (something I should have done before ordering), and I became curious as to why, although this company has bad reviews on most web sites (including the Better Business Bureau, Yelp, and YellowPages.com), they had glowing reviews on their FB page and on Houzz. I then looked at their FB reviews and realized that all their 5-star reviews were from employees! When I mentioned this on their FB page, they deleted the review feature from their FB page. I then looked at their reviews on Houzz and saw that they have 132 reviews, the vast majority of them 5-star. When I looked more closely, however, I saw that over 100 of those 5-star reviews were entered over the two-day period of November 30 - December 1st, 2015, and none of those reviews were from users who had a verified purchase from VintageDoors. It seems the company is unethically manipulating the on-line reviews they can control.

Some of the web reviews from other customers mention that Howard Demick, the CEO, personally threatened them if they wrote a negative review. All of the negative reviews share the same theme—abusive treatment by Howard Demick. My experience with Howard was similarly disconcerting, as he attacked me personally—including my character and my profession—rather than staying focused on the concerns I expressed with the product and customer service in question.

Watch out for Vintage Doors (Hammond, NY).

Re: Beware of VintageDoors.com

My guess is the post above may just be sour grapes. The doors they create are CUSTOM, and therefore a little pricey, and do take some time to create, but my 150yo victorian is well worth it.  We needed a custom slab to be used as a pocket door, and Vintage doors made it happen!

I just received my door from Vintage doors by yesteryear and it was AMAZING. The customer service people were incredibly kind, and Ryan is a MASTER CRAFTSMAN. The photo doesnt do it justice! He used gorgeous pieces of SOLID CHERRY wood and made sure all of the rich grains will show through once I poly it! I was included in the decision making process from the first email.  Each and every time I called I got a HUMAN on the phone, who addressed my concerns immediately, and EVERYONE was super nice. I am a verified purchaser and will be happy to answer any questions about the door.

They sent me an email of what the door looked like in the “crate” they built around it for shipping, and I thought to myself “geez that is overkill”. When the fed ex guy got here it looked like someone played “forklift hockey” with it, but despite the deliberate IGNORING of the fragile/glass stickers, my door arrive in perfect condition.

I would Highly RECOMMEND Vintage doors! It was a pleasure to do business with them!  As a matter if fact I have another door I need built, for a weird shaped closet, that is my next project.

Call them for yourself and see just how great their customer service is!

I will attach a photo of the door once its Poly-ed and up.

Sincerely B.Herlihy
