Best way to finish bottom of legs for a Deck Storage Bench

I am completing a storage bench for our deck, which will house chair cushions, etc. The legs are redwood, and the bench itself will be painted. What would be the best way to finish the bottom of the legs which rest on the (Trex) deck to inhibit water absorbtion and resultant decay? Just prime and paint? Apply a wax sealer? A thinned glue mixture to seal the pores? Something else?

Any sugggestions would be appreciated.

I'd make a foot out of Trex that was slightly smaller than the foot of the bench and attach it with recessed, rust resistant screws. I've done this with stair supports with great success.
