Best inexpensive basement Ceiling?
diannlh

I'm looking for ideas on inexpensive ideas to make our basement ceilings look more finished for a family room we have made the in the largest room. Walls are done and painted already, floor is taken care of. Budget is running low and we haven't gotten to the ceiling yet. I hate to spray it now that walls are done. Anyone have any good ideas that wont cost a fortune. Drop ceiling is the only other idea we have, however that is costly. I would appreciate anyone's thoughts on this. Thanks in Advance!

You could look in to putting up a breadboard ceiling. Do a search of "DIY Beadboard ceiling". Here is one possibility:

Some use the panels and some do the actual beadboard one board at a time.

If you want something temporary, you could make panels using 1x1s and muslin.

How about siding? it will give you a clean look and will be inexpensive.

However, I think the cheapest way to go is to paint it. I once saw a basement ceiling painted charcoal, it had a simple "warehouse" feeling, like in some of the new stores at the mall. Not bad.
