I bought some tongue and groove beetle and wolud like to use it on a small ceiling in our entryway. Do I need to seal it with anything or can I use it as it is? If I need to seal it what do I use? Thanks
I have heard of a betel nut tree, but do you mean wood that has insect damage and is being used decoratively (like pecky cypress)?
Make sure it has either been heat treated in a kiln or fumigated before bringing it in your house.
As for finishing, whatever you wish. Wood receives finish so that it is protected from weather, beautified, and buffered against drastic seasonal changes in moisture in cases of furniture and woodwork.
