bathroom tiles

is there a rule of thumb for the grout space between the tiles for a bathroom wall above the tub that includes a shower.

Most of the pictures I've seen have very little if any gap in between the tiles. I'm interested in having a 1/4 to 1/2 in gap for the grout. (for design) But I'm wondering if this is recommened and that I will not have any problems down the road!

(mildew or any other issue)

Can you please advise

Re: bathroom tiles

Rule of thumb is on walls of a tiled shower or tub inclosure you will use a 1/16" to 1/8" max grout spacing and use sandless grout.3/16" and up grout spacing are for flooring. The reason you use sandless grout in the walls is because it is less pouris.
