bath tub fixture leaks

I have an app. 40 year old, 3 handle tub/shower unit that I have replaced the Stems and seats for the stems, but still a cold water drip. What is the solution?

Re: bath tub fixture leaks

Annoying, isn't it?

Stems and seats must be for your faucet, so make sure you got the right ones.

I like to wrap the seats with teflon or plumbler's dope. Make sure they are snug.

The stems have plastic washers around the thread, make sure they're there. If they are missing, get new ones and put them in.

Other than that, make sure you're not mis-threading.

If all else fails, replace the body.

Try out faucets and replace washers. I hope it will work for you.
