Basement waterproofing

I have a 75 year old farmhouse with a brick block basement. Bricks are the size of cinder blocks but have 3 horizontal holes instead of the usual vertical holes. Every time we get more than 1/2 in. of rain, we get several leaks. Otherwise, it's in great shape. It was not filled with anything when it was constructed. Thinking about trying to fill with foam or something but we would have to drill into every block. Any ideas? Dug a trench about 3 feet deep outside and waterproofed there, but not wanting to dig out the entire depth of the wall if possible. Our basement is currently only used for storage, but we would like to finish it out. Thanks!
