I went back quite a ways back in a few sections and didn't see my specific problem. Please direct me to an existing thread if available.
My house was built in 1954 in New England. My basement gets humid in the summer which we control easily with a dehumidifier and once the heat comes on its really dry. No signs of efflouresnce. However, the original painted walls have been flaking away for years and there is quite a bit of concrete dusting behind that. We've been there 7 years and have had to vac a pile of dust at the base of the wall once or twice. I'm hoping to start spending more time down there and want to move toward sealing this up. As the wall erodes I can see that the mix has a lot of small stones in it.
Can anyone ID a process and/or product that can help me stop the erosion? At what point can I say when regarding removing loose material before applying something? They dont need to be smooth. I'm just hoping for silicate-free air.
