backsplashes and outlets/switches

How do I get the outlets flush with a new backsplash?I am finishing up the remodel in our 1905 folk victorian kitchen. The walls are drywall in some areas, and plywood in other areas that was already up. My question? How do I bring the electical boxes out the thickness of the cement board, thinset and tile without cutting out the drywall or plywood and remounting the boxes, or is this the only option?

Re: backsplashes and outlets/switches

Box extensions are available to bridge the gap from the recessed boxes to the new wall surface.
