ATTIC - Water Leak or Moisture Problem???????
Rennagirl

Hello

I have a split bi-level home with apartment on the side. (mother daughter set up) I had my roof replaced 5 years ago. This past few weeks notice water coming from ceiling. Went into attic on apartment side and all boards are wet, more so towards the edge of the roof and the ridge vent is full of water when pushed on. It rained around 2 weeks ago. But the attic on the main house is dry and fine. I need to know if roofer is responsible, what the problem is, and how best to get this fixed. PS i tried to upload image but kept getting error message. PLEASE HELP.

You can load pictures to a free service like Photobucket and post the link.

Have you checked to make sure no ventilation fan like a bathroom fan or cook stove fan is not feeding into the attic?
Have you checked the roof for damage?

If it has been two weeks since the last rain, I'd first check for any plumbing that is in the area. It should have dried out from the rain two weeks ago.

Do you have gutters and are they clogged? Are they damaged in anyway that would allow and overflowing gutter to spill water into the soffit area? The ridge vent should not be full of water.
