Attic insulation w/ attic hvac unit

I want to add insulation to my attic. It has blown in insulation, which I figure is about R17-ish. The air handler is in the attic, sitting on the ceiling joists. House is 1960, and attic is vented. I'm in east Tennessee.
Should I take any precautions insulating around the unit? Also, I plan on covering the ductwork which also lays on the ceiling joists. The ductwork is insulated, but regardless, should I worry about condensation in between the new insulation and the old blown in, where the ductwork will be?
Thanks guys
