Attaching TV to plaster over Fireplace

I have a bit of a dilemma. I'm planning on attaching a TV to the wall above my fireplace. The plaster is attached directly to the brick of the chimney. Can I bolt the TV to this?

Any suggestions would be great!

Re: Attaching TV to plaster over Fireplace

I'd have to believe that you'll need to use anchors to do so. Meaning you'll have to use a masonry bit (small to large), hammer in the anchor, and then you'll both in your supports.

I'm no expert, but that's what I would do. Not sure if it's necessary to get in between the bricks or if it would be ok to drill into them.

Do you use the fireplace/have you spoken or read whether having tv above is ok?

Drilling into the brick/plaster is no problem. Yes we do use the fireplace. Not that often, but we do.
