asbestos in filters?

I have used the same filters for our air conditioning for many years, they are washable/electrostatic kind so I guess I should purchase some new ones altho they still look good. Thinking of getting the Honeywell ones at Home Depot but curious whether they contain asbestos?

Asbestos was phased out back in 1978, with more regulations and restrictions in the 38 years since. So, it is highly unlikely that filters ever contained asbestos, much less current day offerings.

Washable air filters are fine.

However, if you ask me, the 99 cent throw away filters are better. Yes, they need more frequent replacement, but it's a blessing, as your A/C will find it easier to breath. The trick is to change it on time.

Ask any A/C tech who knows his stuff, he'll tell you the same thing.
