Asbestos concerns - vinyl flooring

Hello everyone,

Just joined the community and this is my first post. I just bought a new home that was very extensively renovated. The original home was built in 1924 with a major addition sometime between 1978-83. I had a home inspection done and the inspector said he saw no signs of asbestos in the home. The basement was only partially redone and on the basement floor there is some nasty old vinyl flooring that was already partially stripped out. I was going to go about stripping out the rest in preparation for laying some new flooring, but the more I read about old vinyl the more I am worried this stuff may contain asbestos.

I have two questions:
1. Can anyone tell from the picture if asbestos is likely?
2. If there is asbestos, how contaminated is my home likely to be now that half of the vinyl was already torn out (probably not carefully)?

Hoping for the best, but I don't want to take my chances ...

Picture doesn't seem to want to post ... I will try again later. Sorry.

It most likely contains asbestos.

Read about asbestos on line and the way to remove it.

Or, call asbestos contractors to remove it.

Ok, tried to post the picture five times in both .jpg and .png formats from two different computers and I keep getting error messages ... somebody want to tell me how I can get my pictures to post?

asbestos tiles are normally 9 inch squares. 12 inch ones are not.

What size are yours?

If sheet vinyl, as long as you aren't sanding it into an airborne dust you should be OK. Scraping it off the floor in chunks is not dangerous.

The site does not allow direct posting of pics from your computer, you must post them to an image host, then link them here.
