Are arched cabinets outdated? Mine are a glossy oak like. Want to paint white on top and gray on the bottom? Should I replace the doors completely or can I save money and just paint and add hardware?
Personally, I am tired people letting of certain home improvement shows dictate what is in or not - like the yearly change in women’s fashions. Surfaces in homes are expensive and few can afford to change them out on a whim of fashion. I saw a lovely brick fireplace tiled over on a home improvement show last week in the name of updating. The new tile will look dated long before the timeless brick ever did. What should make a surface "dated" is if it is worn out.
Cathedral arched cabinets are often older and many are showing their age. Many simple arched cabinets are not as old. If yours are showing wear, paint will help freshen up the kitchen and get you by until you can afford new cabinets. If replacing the doors is not in your budget, paint and save up for new doors later or whole new cabinets depending on the conditions of the cabinets themselves and / or your desire and financial ability to replace the cabinets or gut the whole thing.
It is your house and your budget. Paint is the least expensive way to make major changes. You can get lots of ideas from Pinterest or doing an image search and viewing some of the home decorating blogs. Try an image search of white and grey cabinets.
