Previous owner of our 1915 foursquare replaced some original windows with vinyl replacement windows. On the sunny side of the house, all of the replacements have blown seals. I would like a wood replacement window, possibly with a clad exterior. I have the literature on the Marvin tilt-pacs. I've looked online at Kolbe. And I recently met a Harvey representative at an old house fair. Apparently they are big in the Boston area and are now expanding into Pa and NJ. I am assuming the vinyl replacement windows will come out cleanly, frame and all, and I can use a tilt-pac like product.
I would like to know peoples' experiences with these window brands or any other brands I should consider. I imagine that with Marvin I'm paying for their expensive branding and advertising as well as their product.
Also, has anyone pulled out their vinyl replacement window, frames and all? What is left?
Many thanks to all of you willing to share expertise ans experiences......:)
