A couple weeks ago (show 2909) Rich showed the air handlers in the attic. The hot water came up from the boilers in the basement to the air handlers which then used the hot water to heat the air and distributed the hot air throughout the upper two floors. In the summer they provide cooling.
The hot water goes through PEX tubing. It was fastened to the underside of the roof rafters. I’m sure Rich knows what he’s doing, but I am wondering why the PEX isn’t insulated. Any ideas? During the heating months the hot water has to go through the cold PEX tubes in the attic and I would think there’d be a lot of heat loss.
