Add Smart Light Switch with no Neutral

I have an older home and I would like to replace a current light switch for a smart one that can be controlled by my phone. However, there is no neutral wire at the current light switch and most smart light switches require this neutral. Does anybody have any advice?

Mathew,

You did not say when the house was built, or even wired or re-wired. You may pull a wire to that location and tie it to the neutral bar located in the panel. If you are going to do that, I would replace the current wire with the new. But it really sounds like you could use an entire re-wire on the house. A light switch with no neutral means that the neutral is in the light box. And one wire was sent to the switch. They are using the neutral there to break the circuit. This was done a while back, and is no longer allowed.
