Generation NEXT Casting Call 2019
Our nationwide search for apprentices is back! Apply now for a chance to work alongside—and learn from—the experts at This Old House
Interested in working with the This Old House crew on our next project houses? We’d love to have you! Through our Generation NEXT program, we are working to close the skills gap by encouraging young people to master the vocational trades, and there’s no better way to learn than scoring an apprenticeship with the masters at TOH.
We’re offering two paid apprenticeships this year for work on two TOH TV house projects (one full season of TOH TV). One project will be in Westerly, Rhode Island, this spring and another in the Greater Boston area over the summer. We will select two apprentices to work both house projects in the 2019-2020 TOH TV season. You must be 18 years of age or older to apply. Career changes and veterans welcome. DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS IS MARCH 1, 2019 AT 11:59 PM EST. See full Contest Rules.
To begin the application process, click the “Upload Your Submission” button below. You’ll be asked to submit some basic information about yourself, including your trade field of choice and any prior experience you have in the trades. We’ll also ask for a video; this can be an example of you working in your field, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be. Most importantly, we’d like to get to know you and why you’re interested in a career in the trades. Here are some pointers from Kevin:
You can only submit one video link, but be sure to include information about any online presence you have (like social media, a blog, or a YouTube channel) on your résumé. We also accept letters of recommendation from anyone you’ve worked with in the past, or anyone who can speak to your knowledge or interest in the trades (although recommendations aren't mandatory). One year’s experience OR technical school training, a plus.
