As rebuilding from Hurricane Helene continues in Asheville, Kevin O’Connor briefly meets Jenn Nawada at the historic Biltmore Estate where she gives him a quick tour of the gardens before he goes to meet with the group of Swannanoa homeowners.
Outside Jim and Allie’s house, Kevin meets with Catherine, Jeremy, Miah, Jim and Allie to hear how progress is going at their respective houses and how they are feeling overall.
Inside, Kevin finds Bill, Jim’s brother, who has traveled from New Jersey to install tile underlayment in their bathroom. Kevin steps in to lend a hand with waterproofing around the shower window.
Up in North Asheville, Kevin meets with father-son roofers who are installing shingles on the newly repaired roof. JD Reed explains that they use six nails per shingle as opposed to the standard four-nail application pattern for better protection against high winds. Kevin heads to the roof to meet JD’s son Jayden who shows him how he flashes against the brick chimney.
Later, Kevin heads to East Asheville to check in with homeowner Paula. Now that the drywall is up on the first floor, she has started making some design choices on paint, wallpaper and flooring.
Outside, he meets with builder Will Nicholson, who while removing Paula’s old deck found rotting wood below her back door. Together they work to remove the rot, reinforce the frame and replace the damaged boards.
