Kevin O’Connor meets meteorologist Stephanie Abrams to understand why the storm struck Asheville so hard.
In Swannanoa, he joins Zack Dettmore and builders Chris Cronin and Nick Swann for progress updates before the teams split to tackle critical work. Kevin and Chris demo and reframe the back wall of Jim and Allie’s bathroom to prepare for a new window and tile.
At homeowner Miah’s house, Nick explains why HVAC systems are stored in the attic rather than the crawlspace ahead of future house raising, then preps the area with Zack for insulation.
Meanwhile, Richard Trethewey visits East Asheville builder James Dose, who gives him a tour while introducing electrician Chester Ervin, replacing the electrical panel, and plumber Larry Smith, handling the first-floor bathroom rough-in.
Back in North Asheville, Zack teams up with builder Hunter Ward and lead carpenter James Moore to demo floors.
Later, Kevin sits down with Swannanoa neighbors Stephanie and John, who recount their dramatic rescue of their family from their roof by kayaker John. He and his neighbor Rob share their stories of saving others by boat, leading to a moving reunion between John and the family he brought to safety.
