Wallpaper and Old Cork
Q: "How do I remove multiple layers of wallpaper? Also, what do you recommend to remove glued cork off the walls?"
How do I remove multiple layers of wallpaper from a room two stories high? Also, what do you recommend to remove glued cork off the walls?
Steve Thomas replies: Working on walls two stories high, I'd recommend renting rolling staging for convenience and safety; it can be rented from your local home center.
As for the cork, it depends how it's been glued to the walls. If it's been glued directly with a contact adhesive, you can try scraping away the residual adhesive with a single-edge razor blade, then applying laquer thinner or a chemical adhesive stripper. At some point, between the wallpaper and cork removal, you might find it cheaper and faster to rip off the drywall, re-drywall the room, and paper or paint from there.
