Old For-Sale Listings

“As a realtor, I was excited to see houses for sale from 1910. What shook me up was there were no phone numbers to call the realtors.”

“I found this unusual tower-drain supply faucet spout hookup in an old mill house in Mooresville, NC. I’ve seen lots of these tubs, but they never had this original contraption. I’ve also seen lots of tower drains, but not that also included the supply and faucet contraption. I would LOVE to get information about how this thing looked with the supply and faucet, and help finding the parts to complete it.”

Old-School Cookout

“We found these in the rafters of our basement of our 1883 farmhouse. Larry Swartz, a local auctioneer, identified them. ‘These notched sticks were called gambrel sticks and were used when people butchered pigs years ago. They were used to hold the pigs open while being dressed and also to allow for faster cooling.'”

Pick of Smokes

“Contractor found this pack of cigarettes behind the wall during our master bath redo! The house was built in 1967 and this was the first remodel of that bathroom. The pack is almost full, too.”

Picking a Fight

“I found these in my yard a few years ago while digging a trench to help with drainage. My house was built on the site of the old salt works. Both items believed to be from the 1870’s.”
