In this video, stock lumber and some creative cutting yield a charming new landmark.
Steps:
1. Rough Cut the Balusters
2. Trim balusters to length.
3. Crosscut the center post.
4. Bore an anchor hole for the center post.
5. Mark the notches to lay out the center post.
6. Cut the vertical notch for the center post.
7. Bevel the top of the center post.
8. Create the decorative notch: make the bevel cuts.
9. Create the decorative notch: make the kerf cuts.
10. Clean up the notch.
11. Cut the the end posts to length.
12. Bevel the tops of the end posts.
13. Attach the first bottom rail.
14. Attach the remaining rails.
15. Attach the balusters.
16. Paint the piece.
17. Install the steel rod to finish. -
