In this video, flooring expert Charles Peterson shows how to install a herringbone floor.
Steps:
1. Mark the centerline.
2. Set the slat length.
3. Make a test panel.
4. Cut the slats.
5. Add grooves to the flat ends.
6. Set the working distance.
7. Set the working distance.
8. Install the nailing blank.
9. Establish the pattern.
10. Nail the slats in place.
11. Finish the course and reverse the blank.
12. Begin the second course.
13. Backfill the empty triangles.
14. Mark the overlap for removal.
15. Cut off the excess.
16. Add grooves to the edges.
17. Attach a feature strip.
18. Nail the border pieces. -

1½-inch drywall screwsto attach the blank to the subfloor.
