To create the storage chest:
1. Cut the side pieces to length
2. Build the sides and lid
Layout the sides with a spacer
Clamp the glued sides
Notch the handle into the top piece
3. Assemble the box parts
Assemble the sides
Drill with a step bit
Insert glued dowels
Cut dowels with saw
4. Build the base
Rip base's beveled edges
Notch base
Attach support strips to base pieces
Screw the base to the box
5. Attach the lid with hinges -

1. Red oak 1x4s to build the box and lid. Get ten 8-foot boards to make the sides and three 6-foot boards to make the lid.
2. Red oak 1x6s to build the base. Get two 8-foot boards to make the base.
3. 1x1 for support strips. Get two 6-foot lengths.
4. ½-inch oak plywood floor. Get a 2x4 foot sheet. 5. Wood glue
6. Miller 2x dowels in black walnut. Available from Miller Dowel Company.

8. 1-inch brad nails
9. 1-inch screws
10. 80-grit, 180-grit, and 220-grit sandpaper
