In this video, learn how to build wall cubbies.
Steps:
1. Mark off two 12-by-12-inch squares and two 11-by-12-inch pieces on birch-veneer plywood.
2. Mark off a 12-by-12-inch square and an 11-by-11-inch square on a piece of luaun or ¼-inch plywood.
3. Clamp down the workpiece, then use a jigsaw to cut out the pieces.
4. Run a bead of glue on the edges of the shorter plywood pieces. Fit the 12-inch pieces over them and clamp the box together.
5. Nail the box together with 4d finish nails.
6. Glue and nail the 12-by-12 piece of luaun over the back.
7. Use a random-orbit sander to smooth the surface.
8. Paint the box with a clear coat of polyurethane or some colorful paint.
9. Paint the front edge in a bright color (optional).
10. Attach stacked boxes to the wall with screws and wall anchors.
11. Cover the 11-by-11-inch piece of luaun with fabric.
12. Stick the fabric panels to the inside of the box with Velcro tape.
