About $45

Difficulty: Easy to moderate

All the parts are easy to make and fit together, but cutting and drilling hardwoods may slow things down

In this video, learn how to build an easel.

Steps:

1. Use a jigsaw to cut oak 1x3 lumber into four 4-foot legs, two 24-inch cross braces, and two 14-inch side brackets and brace pieces.
2. Cut notches in the side brackets, as well as holes for the center dowel that will hold a roll of paper.
3. Align the hinges between two legs, and drill pilot holes. Attach the hinges with #10 screws.
4. Attach the cross braces between the two sets of hinged legs.
5. Screw one end of the side brackets onto the leg with #8 screws. Put a screw in place for the other end to slide over.
6. Drill pilot holes through the frame of a magnetic dry-erase board and into the legs.
7. Screw the board to the legs with #10 screws. Repeat on the other side.
8. Attach plastic trays to the cross braces with #10 screws.
9. Slide a roll of paper onto the center dowel.
