The ground-floor powder room is a good example of elegant universal design. The comfort-height toilet and adjacent grab bar are good ideas for anyone, especially an older resident, but their looks do not detract from the design of the room. Rocker-style light switches and levers on the sink are easier to use than toggles and faucets. The room's real secret? Shower plumbing has been roughed in behind the empty corner; a day's work someday could convert this powder room to a full-function shower room.
