Installing a second sink in a bathroom vanity

Richard helped a homeowner install a second sink in an existing bathroom vanity. To make room for the sink's new piping in the back of the cabinet, Richard had several of the cabinet's drawers shortened by a carpenter. Next, using a jigsaw and paper template, Richard cut a hole in the laminate countertop for the new sink. Afterward, he ran new a new PVC drain and copper supply pipes, mounted a faucet onto the new sink, set the sink in place, and made his final plumbing connections.

Viewer Tip

Outside the barn, Roger shared a viewer tip with Kevin. Roger cut the bottom from a plastic trash can and used it to hold a paper bag open while putting leaves inside it.

Repairing a crack in a concrete basement wall

Tom helped a homeowner repair a large crack in his basement wall. The wall was built of concrete blocks and some settling had occurred over time, causing mortar to pop loose from the joints. The crack was large and hollow, letting cold air and rain into the basement. To fix the crack, Tom first squirted some insulating foam from a can inside the crack. Once the foam had expanded and cured, Tom covered it up and sealed the crack using pre-mixed mortar that he mixed with water and applied with a trowel. The mortar had sand it in, which allowed Tom to feather the edges with a wet sponge, giving it texture and blending it seamlessly with the rest of the wall.

Where to find it?

Expanding Foam and mortar mix is available in the masonry aisle of most home centers and hardware stores.
