Plumbing and heating expert Richard Trethewey heads to Tampa, Florida to help two homeowners repair their broken water softener. Then Richard, along with host Kevin O'Connor, landscaping contractor Roger Cook, and general contractor Tom Silva ask, "What is it?" Next, Roger helps a homeowner repair and prevent deer damage to one of his evergreen trees. Then, up in the loft, Tom shares a viewer tip on how to reduce airborne dust while sanding.

Repairing a broken water softener
Richard and a local expert helped a pair of Florida homeowners repair a broken water softener. A plastic basket inside one of the tanks had ruptured, allowing "resin beads" to clog water pipes and fixtures inside the house. To fix the problem, they cleaned the inside of the tank and installed a new "control head" and resin beads.

Preventing deer damage to evergreens
Roger helped a homeowner prevent deer from eating his evergreens during the winter months by surrounding them with a barrier of "deer netting" attached to wooden stakes.

Deer netting is available at many home centers and garden centers.

Viewer Tip
Up in the loft, Tom shares a viewer tip on how to reduce airborne sanding dust by using a box fan and furnace filters.
