Relocating the Powder Room

Originally slated to be moved to the other side of the kitchen, the downstairs powder room was tucked away beneath the main staircase, leaving more room for kitchen traffic. Its unique location required an innovative venting solution. A conventional vent could not be sent up through the stairs to the roof. Instead, plumbing contractor Ernest Huston installed an in-line air admittance valve close to the pipes. In-line vents can only be used in conjunction with a conventional venting system that moves air up from the ground and out the top of the house.
