The kitchen plumbing, roughed-in in preparation for the sink and appliances, provided a good example of proper plumbing installation. For the drain, a good quality cast-iron drain pipe connected to a PVC for vent pipe to the roof. On the water side, an extra copper pipe with a cap on it acted as a cushion and helped eliminate banging when the faucet was turned on and off. The crew drilled large holes for the pipes to provide room for insulation that kept the pipes from rubbing against the wood.
