Attic Access: A Hidden Staircase

The crew installed a pull-down ladder to provide easy access to the attic, which wasn't usable living space but could serve as a storage space. Due to the house’s high-ceilings, a 12 foot ladder had to be custom made. Side pieces and treads were shipped separately and assembled on site. A pulley and cable system, similar to the kind used in garage doors, allowed the ladder to slide up and down easily.

The attic was also home to components of the house's hard-working HVAC system, which kept the house cool and dry despite steamy, Southern summers.
